Everyone is capable to do something. I find
it funny when society tags people with names. “This/that useless man”, Everyone’s
passion is useful to development. It’s just that, your ability to make an
impact in society is limited by intimidation and frustration from your society.
Remember, “Frustrated persons always want to
frustrate you because they are frustrated and they want to make others to be
like them” Because they couldn’t follow their passions, they’ll try to
discourage you when you are building your passion. In Africa, it is a pity to
know that kids are forced to study courses that they do not have a passion for.
You can find children studying a course, simple because, their parents told
them to. They study those courses to impress their parents, but not because
they have a passion for those courses. Most people got themselves into certain
professions all because of the prestige, fame and wealth. They never had a
passion for their professions.
In
developed countries, they began their success story by motivating their
citizens to identify and develop their passions. Developing countries should be
filled with individuals who have passion for their careers and not people who
just want to enjoy the national coffers.
Never
say you can’t, because you feel you’ll be mocked at. Never say you are
worthless, just because the society said so. Never say never, if there is
breath in your lungs. Aspire to your passions. Africa can make it, if we have
faith in our passions.
Take a study of your life.
Potencials:
Ask yourself these questions, “What is my
greatest potential?-what you are good at” Identify this, is it singing,
dancing, artworks, poetry, social science-related, whatever it may be. Finding
your potential, means finding your passion-what you are happy doing, hence your
strength.
Weaknesses:
Now, the next step is finding your weaknesses-where
you find out things you are not good at. Things that you do, but not pleased
with.
Opportunities:
These
are always there, but you always have to find them-This is a point of
developing your passion-Scholarships, Record label signing, grants and many
more
Threats:
After identifying your opportunities, you
need to know what is stopping you from going for those opportunities. There so
many threats that might be in your way, but the two main influential factors
are mentioned below:
Family: Family will try to stop your passion
due to the pressures and influences of the society. Your family will want you
to live the passion of others, because they want you to be just like the
children of others. If everyone’s child is a doctor, then your family wants you
to also be a doctor. Other times too, the parents want their children to take
over their profession steps. For instance, if the father is an accountant, he
wants his children to be accountants by all means.
Society:
The society uses the family as a tool to stop you from living your passion. The
society commands the family.
